Whilst visiting and touring Angus and Dundee, you simply must not miss
RRS Discovery
Dundee is known as 'The City of Discovery' taking that name from Scott
of the Antartic's ship "Discovery" which was built in Dundee
and returned here a few years ago. It is now the centrepiece of a multimedia
heritage centre (Discovery Quay) on the city's waterfront.
Verdant Works
An absolute ‘must visit’ is Verdant Works, Dundee's exciting
Textile Heritage Centre, which brings the City's proud past to life. the
site is a living museum recording the history of not only the Jute industry,
but of Dundee itself, and the townsfolk who made it possible. Verdant
Works, combined with a visit to the RRS Discovery, really does make for
a fascinating and educational day out.
Frigate Unicorn
His Majesty's Frigate UNICORN, of 46 guns, berthed in Dundee, was built
for the Royal Navy in Chatham dockyard, and she was launched in 1824.
The classic sailing frigate was a fast and powerful warship, and was one
of the most successful and charismatic ship designs of the age.
She is a unique survivor from the brief transitional period between the
traditional wooden sailing ship and the revolutionary iron steamship.
Step on board this historic Warship and travel back in time to the days
when Britannia ruled the waves.

missionary in Africa, and her correspondent Charles Partridge.
Kirriemuir
Rightly proud of its famous son, JM Barrie, Kirriemuir benefits from a
surprisingly large variety of great local interest and pursuits, most
notable being
- The old Town house, dating back to 1604 and home of Kirriemuir Museum
- Kirriemuir Aviation museum, featuring a superb collection of museums,
artefacts, models and pictures dating relating to military aviation
and the RAF in particular.
- The Camera Obscura in Kirriemuir, one of only three in Scotland ,
and a must visit.
- The neighbouring and scenically stunning Angus Glens, providing some
of the most outstanding mixed walking opportunities, and also sensational
shooting and stalking, anywhere in Scotland.
- The James Braid designed local Kirriemuir Golf Course - a real gem.
Not to mention some rather well known local area courses such as Carnoustie
and the excellent open championship qualifiers at Monifeith, Panmure
and Downfield. Golf breaks in Scotland at their very best can be enjoyed
at the Craigtay hotel.
